Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and vocalist since the mid 1990s. In her early Broadway role, she was the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford Tony Award winner actor has worked with a variety of acclaimed actors and directors in stage films and television. Ashford continues to build on her award-winning career with her upcoming projects. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford will be returning in 2023. He will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton is the director of the show. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the first impeachment proceeding in America in Over 100 Years. She starred in two seasons of hit CBS comedy B Positive. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role as Essie. Her additional Broadway performances includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Born and raised in Denver Ashford currently splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
